Les Miserables as they perform Footloose has been updated! Go and check it out! I, on the other hand, am going to go rummage around for some headphones. *does so*

Music Track: Bohemian Rhapsody Mood: Gleeful Seriously, berets are fantastic. They're flat, and flexible, and can be folded to just about any shape (as long as that shape resembles a pancake), can be knitted or crocheted out of just about anything, and are just great. Why am I going on about berets? Take a look. I made it myself! *glee* It's so SIMPLE, people. Observe: Single-stitch for the whole thing, increasing six times per row until it's 10 inches across, work even for two rows, then decrease by skipping every tenth stitch until it fits your head, and work even for an inch. THAT'S IT. And it only took most of one skein of yarn (using this yarn called 'EcoSoft'--it's great stuff, made out of recycled plastic bottles. But what caught my eye is that the skeins in question only cost $2.50 apiece. And they are surprisingly soft, and washes like a dream. I AM HAPPY.) Actually, I look kind of scary here. *pokes picture* Ugh. I'm going to stop posting pictures, 'kay? Preserve your eyes from my poorly-fixed red-eye and goofy grinning...
Back to the hat. I've already started making another one...see, there's something weirdly addicting about crochting and knitting. If I start a project using one of those forms of creation, I CAN'T STOP. It's worse than reading an amazing book or painting. Because you can put a book or a painting down and it doesn't scream 'Pick me up!! Pick me up!!' every time you look at it. *sigh* So in the last week I've made a beret, a scarf, fingerless gloves, and started another beret. If you know of a good 12-step program I'm all ears. I'm getting ready to sally forth and run some errands, using Colletta as my mode of transportation. She's been looking really good lately--usually she is on the 'chunky' side (a polite way of saying 'overweight') but riding nearly every other day has got her slimmed down. Oh! Speaking of riding: I took Violet outside of the pen yesterday for a little riding. She is getting more comfortable with going outside without Colletta, but she still gets all shaky and nervous if we go too close to Main Street (about an eighth of a mile from the other horses). I also lost my wallet while riding in the field... *headdesk* But! Dad and I went out looking for it, and we found it within five minutes! *glee* So my wallet is still safely in my pocket...wait...let me check... *goes to check* Okay, it's still there. *grin* The dog keeps trying to chew on my hand, so I'm going to sign off and sally forth. *strikes heroic pose* Yesterday Mom and I rode Colletta and Violet to the grocery store--a distance of about 4 blocks. I live in a pretty quiet town, nothing like a city or even a good-sized town, but this is a huge step training-wise. To get an idea: the last time we rode down the street, Violet chose become scared of a cement block and would NOT, under any circumstances whatsoever, walk past that silly block. This outing she tried to spook at the block again, but I got after her and after a couple of 'I mean business' kicks from me she walked on past it and it hasn't bothered her since. *rolls eyes* It also helps that I'm riding her with a Western saddle, which is a lot more secure than an English saddle. So during this ride we only had two moments where she 'spooked' badly. The first one involved a car and a mailbox: a car buzzed past us going fairly quickly, and Violet turned as if to spook but spooking would have involved jumping into a mailbox. So instead she stalled and her knees started buckling--I thought she was going to fall over for a moment, but the car went past, she regained her footing, and all was well. The second spook was when two vehicles (one of which was a very loud pickup) went past and she jumped forward into someone's yard. Oh, and there was a moment with a leaf-mower thing. But other than that she did pretty well. As long as Colletta is there for 'moral support' Violet doesn't get too scared. Mom and I, for precaution, have taken to both wearing helmets--I've worn one since that concussion, but Mom usually doesn't wear a helmet. But she's decided that it's a good idea to wear one, because even though Colletta is quite well-trained (doesn't spook, doesn't bolt) there's always the outside factor of the horse tripping, or being stung by a bee, or SOMETHING. Let's see...oh, I've been a knitting and crocheting fool lately. I crocheted a beret/tam in three days and am now wearing it (I'll have to take a picture of me wearing it), and also knitted a pair of fingerless gloves. I have to figure out what to do with the gloves, because I already have a pair...maybe I'll give it to someone as a Christmas present. *shrugs* I'm supposed to be doing homework...I don't wanna... *headdesk* One of my assigned projects is to draw 20 thumbnails (preliminary sketches) of my initials in a creative way, like for a logohead. WHY WOULD ANYONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND DRAW 20 STINKING THUMBNAILS?? My initials are very unfriendly to creative tampering anyway--what can you do with MRN? Huh?? *snarl* Oh, and then 10 thumbnails of a logohead for a pet salon. This graphic design book has some of the dumbest project ideas... Oh, speaking of graphics: I found my digital sketches and here they are! Note that I didn't say that they were good. You can find the link to a larger picture in Doodleart.
My senior pics are now up! You can go to the photography section or go check 'em out here.
Oh! Before I forget! I got my Wacom tablet a couple of days ago *pumps fist* but I haven't had a whole lot of time to play around with it. However, I did get some sketches done in Corel Painter last night. They're nothing major (more like the average page of my doodle-sketchbook), but at least they're something. ...and now, after looking for said sketches I cannot find them. *headdesk* I'll have to remember to save them in the right place next time. Okay, I usually don't go around spreading everything I hear, but I cannot keep this to myself. This happened sometime this morning,
This morning my mom called me to tell me about a call from her sister (my aunt). My aunt told Mom about a call she had received from a friend of hers this morning; said friend is the wife of a pastor to a little Baptist church in Springfield. This lady was driving outside of Springfield this morning when she passed a hitchhiker. Normally she never picked up hitchhikers, but today she felt like she ought to so she went back and picked him up. Once she had gotten on the road she asked this guy, "I'm heading to Springfield--where do you need to go?" The man looked at her and said, "Gabriel's lips are on the horn." This took her aback, and she said, "What?" Again he said, "Gabriel's lips are on the horn." And then he disappeared. She was driving on the highway, so there was no way he could have exited the car without her knowing--and he just disappeared. She started crying and carrying on, so much that her driving became erratic and she was pulled over by a policeman. The policeman asked her, "Ma'am, are you all right?" She explained what had happened (approaching hysteria at this point), and he told her, "Ma'am, you're the fourth person to have told me that today." I am a firm Christian, and I know that Jesus Christ is coming back someday. If this story I related is true (and I have no reason to doubt that it is), then His coming is very, very near. It's exciting and kind of scary at the same time ('unknown' scary, not 'fear' scary). BY THE BY, today is the last day of Ramadan, the Muslim day of prayer. I do not believe that these two incidents are unrelated. I also know that by saying so I'm probably going to tick off a bunch of people, but I DON'T CARE. There are more important things than group approval, and by mincing and editing my words so I don't offend certain people I would be denying God's hand in things that are happening. And I'm not about to do that. So guess what I've been doing all evening? Yes, I WAS painting, however did you know? :D But seriously...I've taken out my precious acrylics again, and man do I ever love 'em. Look at what I bring you: IS THIS NOT COOL OR WHAT. GAAH. *spazz* The bottom two are a take-off of drawings of 1800s-style-fashion, which I have not been particularly enamored with but find it very aesthetically pleasing. (Translation: I like it.) Montparnesse has no mouth because I couldn't draw the stupid thing without him looking majorly deformed (curse you, frayed paintbrushes!!) Anyway. So that's what I've been doing. Enjoy. :D
Current Music Track: Never (from Footloose movie soundtrack)
Current Mood: Bleagh The title is a throwback to when I was obsessed with Lord of the Rings. September 22nd, being Frodo and Bilbo's birthdays, is the 'official' Hobbit Day in the LOTR fandom. So yeah...and it's the first day of fall too. Which is easy to remember. Speaking of fall, it's really looking like fall around here. The leaves are dropping off of the poplar tree out front, the bean and corn fields that were planted early are starting to turn gold and brown, and that feeling in the air of chill is all too present. Actually, I'm kind of glad because I have a scarf and fingerless gloves that I've been dying to wear, but it's been too warm to do so. (No, I'm not a clotheshorse--I just really love this scarf (made it myself) and the fingerless gloves are cool.) I shall be taking a camera out presently to get some pictures. What else...oh, I saw the 1978 Les Miserables a couple of days ago. Again. All right, so it's been a year since I've seen it. Overall it's a pretty good movie--Richard Jordan as Valjean does a good job (but he has little skinny chicken legs which is NOT like Valjean at all and therefore I can't take him seriously), the storyline is amazingly Brickish (it has the Great Coffin Escape! *spazz*), and then...there's Anthony Perkins as Javert. Anthony Perkins as Javert = <3 I usually don't go on about actors like this, but Perkins IS Javert. And he quotes the Brick lines and has the sideburns and is clipped and military-like and is tall and skinny and just PWNS. *squee* ...maybe it should be slightly disturbing that all the actors I like are either dead or over 40. Hmm. A change in subject is in order. Currently working on an acrylic painting--I found some screencaps as AP in the role of Javert and am trying to translate one to a piece of canvas. The painting is about 60% of the way done, which means that it's nowhere near finished but I'm liking it. Considering that I haven't used acrylics in over a year I think this is good practice--and after each painting session (done two so far on this piece) I'm going to use the left-over paint from mixing and slap down a 'paint sketch'. CorvidAngel on Deviantart does this with some AMAZING results, so I'm using her idea. It's teaching me to be a lot looser (and when it comes to painting/drawing I NEED to be looser). I was going to put up my senior pics tonight, but when I looked around for them in order to scan I couldn't seem to find 'em. So...they'll just have to wait until tomorrow or so. I imagine that Mom's 'hidden' them somewhere... (i.e. 'put them where they belong in a drawer somewhere and that she forgot to tell me where that drawer is'). Hmm...nothing else going on, really. Okay, I take it back: There's ALWAYS too much going on, but tackling everything is a never-ending task so I'm not going to attempt it tonight. And I can't say that I'm that unhappy about it...I know, I've only been on the thing for a day, but I shall explain my reasons for quitting.
Mostly, it's the fact that I woke up this morning feeling very weak and nauseated, and when I sat down at the dining room table I started sweating. A lot. I'm not sure what was up with the sweating...but after a few minutes it stopped but I was still weak and sick to my stomach. THEN, my brilliant brain kicked into gear and reminded me that I have hypoglycemia. OH, RIGHT, THAT WOULD EXPLAIN THE WEAKNESS. *headdesk* So, a long story short I ate the bowl of a watermelon, two pieces of toast, and a good-sized helping of oatmeal and felt much better. I've still got a bit of a headache, but I expect it to go away once I bolster my system with some solid food. I called Mom at the gym (she works mornings at the local gym), explained the situation, and she called a friend of ours who is a health-nut/herbalist. She suggested an 'elimination diet', where you don't stop eating but just eat things that are very mild and non-allergenic to one's system (brown rice, quinoa (pronounced 'keen-wah'), pears, etc) for about a week, and then start re-introducing food. Supposedly it'll take care of food allergies or at least isolate things that I am truly allergic to. This has become quite involved... Actually, I'm relieved that I don't have to do the juice because my stomach turns at the THOUGHT of drinking juice (it's not very tasty, esp after drinking it for a whole day). I think I'm going to stay away from it for a while... In other news...I don't think I have any other news, actually. So I'm going to drink a glass of ice water and enjoy my juice-less day ahead. :D I have a LOT to update about...so here goes. First off: art. I'm not going to put my pictures in my journal here, but both my regular art and Doodle-art have been updated. Go take a look. Second: LOOK AT THIS PICTURE *spazz* d;lahjlkj;lkkjlj i'm being used as a model kf;aisdfj;ljk
*pant pant* Okay. I'm better. For the uninformed, these are some of my senior pictures (all except the one on the left--I don't know who that is) that we had Terry Newell take for us. He was really happy with how they turned out (obviously) so they're being used for advertisement. Yee. *lesspazz* Third: Today is the first day that I have been on a juice fast. An explanation is probably in order. See, for the last month or so I've had a lot of food-related allergies crop up, usually involving food that I have never had problems with before (almonds, dark and milk chocolate, etc), and the side effects of said apparent allergies is that of breathing problems. Which is very scary. I've been taking Benadryl almost every other day lately, and I'm getting very tired of it. Anyway, I read a lot of health-related books (mostly about how eating right can cure the majority of health issues--not all, mind, but a lot (oh, and eating right usually involves a lot of fresh, organic fruits and veggies, whole grains, and very little or no processed foods)), and according to what I've read a good way to flush built-up toxins out of one's body is to go on a juice fast. This isn't the regular juice made from concentrate, either: it's mostly made from vegetables and a bit of fruit, freshly made with Mom's juicer in the mornings (Mom went through a phase a couple of years ago where she was juicing EVERYTHING, hence the professional-looking juicer that is now crouched on the kitchen counter). I'm also making a high-potassium broth (it's steeping on the stove as I type this)--it has spinach, potatoes, onions, turnips, bell peppers, tomatoes, and carrots with a dollop of miso. Basically I brought it to a boil, simmered for half an hour, and let it sit for two hours. After it's done steeping I can strain out the cooked vegetables and drink the broth for even more nutrients and stuff. On a personal note, I've noticed that I'm really not that hungry unless there's a lot of food around me. (Especially bread--I LOVE bread like you wouldn't believe, and missing my two slices of toast this morning made me sad). This morning I juiced a whole zucchini, two carrots, an apple, an orange, and a peach--this'll last me all day, by the looks of things. That may not sound like much, but the zucchini in question was the baseball-bat-sized variety, and made almost a whole quart of juice. By the by: zucchini juice by itself is DISGUSTING. There's just something about it that makes me have to force it down. But, luckily, with the inclusion of some fruit juice (maybe 2-3 tablespoons worth to a cup of z. juice) it becomes more palatable. The most annoying thing, though, is the fact that juice has no salt--and I LOVE salt. That's where the potassium-broth comes in as well--I can put salt and stuff in it and it won't taste funny and I won't go through salt-withdrawel. And that makes me happy. :D Fourth: we went to the Clark County Mule Festival yesterday, and it was great. I even have pictures. Have a look-see: http://picasaweb.google.com/molly.nolden/MuleFestival2009# I spent most of my time at said festival sitting near the show ring and drawing people and/or mules who were loitering outside the gate. It was great. We're planning on going next year and taking the horses so we can spend a night or two there and ride around (because I was feeling very, VERY horseless yesterday, walking around like a normal person). Fifth: if you are a Javert fan, or if you appreciate art, GO LOOK AT THIS PERSON'S GALLERY. NAOW. http://corvidangel.deviantart.com/ Even if you DON'T appreciate Javert or art go and take a look. She is AMAZING. And I believe that that is all, update-wise...now you can go back to your daily lives and wonder why my boring one has enough appeal that you read this through to the end. XD Woo, I actually have art now!! *dances* And I am ridiculously happy with this, because it was a rough sketch that I had no intentions of keeping until I saw the finished product. Yee.
