However, since I didn't feel like shelling out $22 for a shirt, I bought the necessary supplies from Walmart and made one myself.
The stencil is a random picture of the TARDIS that I cut out using my pocketknife (I don't advise that route normally, but I didn't have an Exacto knife). Then I put a piece of cardboard inside the shirt, laid the stencil on the top, and sprayed a mixture of bleach and water over the whole. After waiting for it to turn the bleached color I wanted I washed it in a mixture of vinegar and water to half to process, and hung it to dry.
It turned out pretty darned spiffy if I say so myself...and I liked it so much that I made another one and sent it to Mr. G. Apparently it's his favorite shirt in his closet now. *glee*
The words are 'Red, the blood of angry men/Black, the dark of ages past' from the musical Les Mis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do5ZVohtQxQ at 1:51). I cut two shirts on the diagonal, sewed them back together, did an embroidery cross-stitch along the seam, and hand-painted the letters. The paint has been heat-set and gone through the wash once, so I know it's holding its color well.
I like drawing letters to begin with (like the Gothic blocky lettering), and I've done it often enough that I was able to look at an alphabet chart of this font, sketch it on in white pencil, and then paint them on using a combination of acrylic paint and this additive that makes the paint stick better...like a fabric paint medium? I dunno.
Meh. It was fun to make and that's what counts. XD
