But today, instead of going with Will to rehearsal and painting set pieces, I stayed home and trouble-shot my sewing machine. Turns out that the needle was put in wrong (still not sure how that happened), and everything was fine after I put it in right. *shrug* Such a simple solution...after fixing the sewing machine it took me something around 3 hours to get to this point (I also ran out of material XD). This falls to just below my knees, and I'm more of a 'super-long-skirt' gal when in a skirt mood...so I tagged along with Mom to Walmart and got some more material. I hope to finish the thing tomorrow...*crosses fingers*
But...considering that it's the first time that I've made clothing without a pattern, I think it's turning out pretty darned well. :D The jean top is actually an old skirt that I've had lying around for AGES. I hated wearing it because it had a slit in the front that came above my knees, but even with the slit I had to take really short steps (i.e. it was very, very constricting). So I think that this flow-y version is a definite improvement. :D
Oh yes, I said 'additions', didn't I? Well. While leaving WalMart Mom and I were sitting in the van, Mom started the engine, and then gasped. "There goes a kitten!"
"What? Where??" I was out of the van in about a millisecond and scanning the parking lot. By kneeling down and looking under the car next to us I saw this little grey and white kitten mewling pathetically, and in about a minute I had squeezed close enough to grab it.
So there we were, standing in the middle of the WalMart parking, me with a kitten in hand and both of us looking at each other with that scrunched look that says 'we don't need a cat...but by golly it's cute...'
Cuteness won out...and in another twenty seconds we were driving home, kitten in the car with us. XD
Poor Javvie...I have no pictures, but every time she hisses at him he runs across the room whimpering. He is confuzzled muchly. (Especially since she seems to hate his guts, but purrs when we pet her. *shrugs*)
I have a feeling that this kitten is going to become a more or less permanent addition to our household... XD She's now curled up in my lap as I type...silly kitty. XD And I still have absolutely no idea what to name her. Something literary, perhaps? Something silly? Something nonsensical? I dunno.
What do you, my dear readers, think she 'looks like' name-wise? Mom's been calling her 'Smudge-pot' because of her grey nose. 'Chauvelin' doesn't fit 'cause she's a female...and I have no idea what else to consider. XD So what d'ya'll think?
Let me know what you think! I'm open to suggestion! :D
Your hostess,
The Fox
