So yeah. The roses are blooming, hence the pictures of roses. I actually picked a few and put them in a bud vase this morning--they're awful purty. XD
THIS year, we went. (Obviously. XD) And by golly I'm glad we did. I had an absolute blast. It's tradition to play music in their garage (pictures coming up later), and now that people's kids are growing up and getting interested in playing music themselves the kids kind of took over the garage. XD
So while the young-uns hijacked the garage the adults mingled, ate (there was sooo much food), visited, and at one point they started playing bluegrass on the other side of the house. It was great.
(...sorry, it's a long story.)
Anyway. He's a ton of fun, and one of the predominant memories I have about him is how he and my brothers threw me into a stock tank once, when I was about 12. There was much screaming, flailing, and carrying on from me. XD But otherwise he's a great guy.
A little-known fact: Dad gets up at 4:00 AM so that he can play an hour of fiddle before he has to leave for work. And he's been doing that for years. That, my friends, is DEDICATION.
(I remember that one song was called 'Helen'...but that's it. *sweatdrop*)
Around this time some friends of ours showed up (they were late because they got lost XD) and we didn't end up leaving until sometime after 10...which, considering how late I've been staying up recently, isn't bad at all. But I digress.
So yeah...it was a long day, but a good one as well (filled with much picture-taking XD). And it's interesting when I relate to other people these days...I can mingle with younger kids with as much ease as I do with adults, and while I'm still viewed as a 'kid' by those younger than me my 'adult' status lets me also be an adult. Best of both worlds, perhaps? *shrugs*
