Oh goodness...Monday happened to be goats and antiques, in that order. XD Olivia took me out to see the goats in the back pasture in the morning--this is Cigar (or Ciggy, for short) And the big one is Ronald...he's 2 1/2 years old, if I remember correctly, and Ciggy is still just a baby.

Hokay...continuing in the same day, same train of thought, more or less...here's part 1 of day 1: http://bramblefox.weebly.com/2/post/2010/04/day-1-of-the-floridian-saga.html This also happens to be a really, REALLY long and picture-rich post so I'm going to be considerate to my poor readers and put a 'read more' break in... So we went to church Sunday morning...it's a nice little church, with very friendly people and a nice slightly 'old-fashioned' atmosphere.
Actually this is Part 1 of Day 1...I took SO many pictures that I'm going to try to post them in bite-sized chunks. I thought about posting pictures of the trip down, but 18 hours of looking at scenery and snapping the occasional uninteresting picture gets kinda boring...so consider the landscape photos struck from this particular post. XD Isaac and I arrived at the Stone's around 4:00 AM, so I crashed in the 'bunkhouse' without really paying attention to my surroundings.
I wish I wa-a-as Homeward bound Oh wait. I am today...or at least in a few hours. XD Also guess what? I has pictures today!! Here's some random pictures to give an idea of the many things we've done this previous week. Driven through the Ozark mountains... Practiced music with the Stones... Gone wading in a random creek... Played with goats... (SO CUTE!!!) Went thrifting... (no, I didn't buy the hat, but I DID get a Les Mis poster. Eee squee.) Brought a goat in the house... Did a photo shoot... (Thanks for the awesome camera weilding, Olivia!) Visited a bookstore...mwahahaha... (I seriously spent about $200 on books. It's a dangerous hobby, being a book-collector... XD) Went to the beach... (there were Portugese man-o-war on the beach and riptides. It was awesome. XD) Attended a church picnic... (Yes, that IS a log toss in the second picture) And there are SO many things to show and talk about...I'll have to upload pictures according to each day. None of these are tweaked, but when I get home I can start the tweaking and upload pictures with some sense of consistency/coherency. Oy.
Also? I'm flying alone for the first time today. And I'm not that nervous, really...not like when I flew for the first time. My only concern is that layover in North Carolina. *bites nails* Also? I was interviewed yesterday by Waunita, and I'm just waiting for their reply. Eee squee. :D Also? I miss many things (I hear Javert has been mopey and the horses are shedding like crazy) about home, but one certain person in particular...three guesses as to who it is, and the first two don't count. XD I'll be glad to be home. Your hostess, The Fox Went to the beach today--my policy of waiting for pictures to illustrate what happened will stand. But I'm going to relate something odd that happened AFTER we left the beach...oh, yes, the title. Um...my skin on my cheeks, nose, chest, arms, and back is very red. I have put much aloe (freshly scraped from a plant leaf and affectionately referred to as 'aloe snot') on the burns, and I think that they'll be okay.
But anyway, about this weird thing that happened. On the way home from the beach we decided on a whim to stop by a thrift store. It was all right, nothing overly special, but we like going to thrift stores and had picked out a few things to buy. While I was standing next to the check-out counter, waiting for the others to filter back to the front of the store I noticed a donation jar. The bottom was covered with coins and a few bills. I like to put my change in donation jars, so I pulled what I had in my pocket and dropped it in the jar. Immediately a lady who worked at the store came over to ask what I was doing. When I said that I had just put a handful of change in the jar, she said, "I don't believe you." For a second I almost laughed, because I thought she was pulling my leg. Then I saw that she was totally serious. And THEN I just stood there for a few seconds with a blank look on my face, wondering how the heck I was going to prove my innocence because (a) I didn't have any more change in my pocket, and (b) it was her word against mine, and by her general demeanor I don't think she would have believed me even WITH evidence. Fortunately one of the Stone girls, Olivia, was standing right next to me and was able to vouch for me. *wipes off imaginary sweat* Of course, wouldn't someone have to be a low-down creepazoid to steal from a donation jar? A second-hand store donation jar, no less?? Oy. But that's nothing compared to what happened with the same lady later. Later when we were all ready to pay, Mrs. Stone mentioned the sale that had been advertised as we walked in, and the lady said that some things were exempt from said sale. We said that that hadn't been clearly said when we came in--the sign just said 'five pieces of clothing for $1', with nothing about 'only for certain tagged items'--and the lady sniped back something sarcastic. Mrs. Stone said that she didn't much like this lady's attitude, and the lady said, "Well, I don't like anything about you." (While this went down I was standing off in the corner, hardly believing what I was hearing and secretly looking around to see if we were on Candid Camera. It was MORTIFYING.) So, long story short, the woman was VERY unpleasant and continued being unpleasant to the point that we left without buying anything and the lady said something about refusing to check us out (after we left our things--"you can't refuse us service--we're LEAVING!!")...it was one of the craziest things I'd ever seen. The worst part, I think, is that the lady was wearing a cross around her neck...the idea that people would look at her and possibly lump Christians under such an unpleasant banner makes me cringe. Anyway. My arms are still red and itchy, so I'm going to put some more aloe gel ('aloe snot', hee hee. I ought to make sunburn gel under that name) on my skin and get back to life. We're watching the third Indiana Jones and tonight we're going over to a friends' house to watch 'Stargate'. Which I have never seen, and I have no idea what it's about. *headdesk* Oh well. It ought to be interesting. I have over 600 pictures taken on my camera, and room for another 900. Mwee hee hee. :D Goodbye forever, The Fox *flops in* Oy! Got time for a quick update and then we're off to do...um...something.
Don't ask why I'm so indecisive. I just am. Okay, so on Friday the 9th we (meaning Mom, Dad, Will, and I) drove down to Branson, MO. During the interlude (about 6 hours) I knitted the first in a pair of armwarmers and took a bunch of pictures. XD At the school we met Henry and Isaac, got our room, I took more pictures of ducks and flowers and stuff and then we ate dinner at the Keeter Center for Isaac and Henry's birthdays. Saturday Isaac and I left Branson around 9:30 and to make a long story short we drove over eighteen hours and across 7 states (Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, respectively), reaching Titusville at 4 AM. I only dozed twice on the trip. It was a long day. >.< Yesterday (the 11th) was INSANE. I'm going to wait until I can upload pictures for illustration, because otherwise the whole essence of the day is lost. XD Suffice to say it was very long and insane. And today? I have no idea what's going on today. Later this week I've heard about visiting bookstores, thrift shops, the beach, Fort Christmas, movies...the list goes on. But I still don't know what's going on today. XD Rest assured that pictures will be taken, notes will be jotted down in my 'real' journal, and life down in Florida will be absorbed to the fullest before I have to go back home. Goodbye forever, The Fox I don't know when I'll be back again
Leavin' on a jet plane... Erm...anyway. Got a little carried away there. Actually, I'm leaving via minivan, and coming HOME on a jet plane. But that's beside the point. Here it is, a lovely day outside, and I'm stuck here in class. *headdesk* I have class until almost 3, filling in for Will at the gym at 3:30 (although considering all the things that I need to do schoolwise before I leave tomorrow I may have to get out of that), and show Mike what to do for taking care of the animals while we're gone over the weekend. Oh yes, and finish packing. *falls over* The insanity is taking over my brain, people--I've had all these bizarre dreams about meeting people down in Florida (they aren't BAD dreams, just odd). Flying doesn't bother me anymore, and I'm really very excited about all these new developments--that is, the whole traveling 'alone' thing. It's just...exciting, and rushed. :D All I have to say at this point is, I will take lots of pictures and I have a list of people who I want to send postcards to (I've never sent postcards while on vacation before--that will have to be remedied) and I'm going to miss you know who. A lot. I foresee much texting over this trip... XD (Which reminds me, I need to buy minutes for my phone before I go...) So, while I will probably have access to a computer I can't guarantee that I will have any 'pithy' or media-rich updates over the next ten days. With that in mind, this is my general 'adieu'. Your hostess, The Fox They flow past at breakneck speed, tearing the innocent foliage and limbs from the banks beside them. The tiny trees and houses next to the waters have no hope as they are swept away... Er...swept...away... Okay, I kid, I kid. This is really our ditch/creek in the front yard after a rain. But they really do rush past at breakneck speed. Well, if you're an ant they're breakneck. But I digress. Argh, an untweaked picture...this is our little stone bridge. Sometimes if there's been a LOT of rain, the water is up to 8 inches over the bridge. That's always fun.
Reminds me of the days when we kids would take a big, blue, 500 gallon stock tank (something like this tank), and pole our way up and down the creek. Now that was FUN. We didn't have a plug for the hole in the side, so we would find an old corn cob and use that for a makeshift plug so our 'boat' wouldn't sink. We still got very, very wet on those days...it was a blast. (The big blue tub also doubled as a swimming pool, 'hamster wheel' (we'd balance it on its edge and try to walk around the yard without the tub falling over), hiding place, seat, sword-fighting ring, and makeshift sauna. We had a lot of fun with that old tub.) Goodness. Here I am talking about blue tubs and boating...time to change the subject methinks. So, the upcoming schedule (as far as I can see) is we leave on Friday for Branson, spend the night at the college, and then Saturday Isaac and I will drive back to Florida. *pumps fist* I don't know what goes on past that. XD I do know that I woke up around 3:00 this morning thinking about random things like what I needed to pack...I need to find a way to shut my brain off at night. Sigh. Oh! Last night Mike and I went shopping...it was fun. :D He insisted on buying me a couple of spring-y looking tops (granted, I picked them out, but it was at his insistence XD)...when I tried them on he said that they were cute, and you know what that means, right? I probably will wear these things until they're falling apart in shreds, just because he said they were cute. It's the peculiar effect that his approval has on my mind. Although I AM glad that I have said tops, because I was lamenting just yesterday afternoon that all I have are tank tops (black and grey solids), a few t-shirts, and maybe two button-up shirts in my closet...and said button-ups are rather 'business-like' in nature. *headdesk* Anyway. Enough about clothes... We talked a lot too...he thinks that I ought to go to college. Like, away-from-home college, just to 'get the experience'. I'm...not sure that I agree. Perhaps I'm a minority, but I don't like leaving home (except in a few cases) and from what I've seen a lot of people my age don't know what they want to do in college anyway. They take classes, get a degree, and then end up doing something totally different. And I do NOT want to spend a bunch of money and waste a bunch of time working half-heartedly towards something that I'm not even sure that I want, ya know? Argh...I'd talk more, but I have to go clean a house in a little while and the horses still haven't been fed. Siiiigh... Your hostess, The Fox LES GASP THE SEQUEL!!!
*pant pant* Okay, I'm officially excited. Wanna know why I'm excited? Really? Are you sure? Are you absolutely positive-- Collective audience: *smacks over the head* GET ON WITH IT! Ahem. Anyway. So, the reason why I'm excited is because from the 10th to the 19th I will be in Florida, more or less 'on my own'. But let me start at the beginning. So Isaac, the brother who is in the Coast Guard, is coming up to a family congregation in Branson where Henry is going to college. Initially the plan was for him to drive up, sell his truck to Henry, and then fly back to Florida. As things turn out, Henry is not going to buy the truck. But Isaac had already bought his ticket. And the way I understand it, this ticket is insured or something so he can change the details (date, destination, etc). Sooo...on Saturday the 10th Isaac and I will set off from Branson, drive back to Florida, I will spend a week with friends of Isaac (we've chatted on Skype, so we've 'met' before), and am planning to have a blast. I hear that visits to the beach and antiquing are on the itenerary--just toss in visiting a bookstore or two and my life will be complete. XD Oh yes, and I'm going to take lots and lots and lots of pictures. Mwahahaha... At the end of this visit, I'm going to fly back home BY MYSELF. *quakes in shoes* I plan to take Dramamine...although considering that I'm going to have to switch planes at one point in South Carolina that may not be a good idea...I dunno. I've flown before, so I ought to be all right this time around. I'll just try not to freak out whoever sits next to me when I show the whites of my eyes. XD Your spazzy hostess, The Fox About a block from my house, there's this old train depot. Said depot has been out of use for many years, and is pretty much a wreck. The inside is unusable, the yard around it is full of junk...it's a sad old building. I've been meaning to get pictures of this old depot for some time, but two days ago--Good Friday--I got a bug up my behind and hauled my camera over for a little shooting. And now I'm going to be quiet and let the pictures speak for themselves in all their nostalgic glory. (Most of these have been treated with a black and white effect, but there are a few that are in color because b&w doesn't enhance them.) Your hostess,
