I've expanded on my 'About Me' page! Spending almost two hours typing up a very rough bio has given me lots of fodder for future posts--you have been warned.

Okay, so I lied. I DID take pictures yesterday, after posting...wait, so did I really lie? Because at the time that I posted saying that I hadn't taken pictures I really hadn't, so I guess I DIDN'T lie. Phew. I'm glad I got that figured out, because it would've kept me up all night otherwise. You may be asking: what pictures DID I take yesterday then? ...hello? This thing on?? *tap tap* *crickets* Oh. Well then, I'll ask myself: What pictures did you take yesterday? This is looking outside the kitchen window, after layers and layers of rain froze on the screen. Ahh, picking my treacherous way out to the van on the way to clean a house. I remember this well--not because I fell, but because the 'almost fell' scale was off the charts. I just love treacherous ground, don't you? One of the maples that made it unscathed from the chainsaw-wielding terrors on Monday...if you listen really closly, you can hear the sighs of relief from the tree. XD Looking out the passenger window of the van, yay! The ice was so thick that Mom couldn't scrape it off, and the window sometimes doesn't roll down (or up--the motor is going out, presumably), so we just had to drive with it all iced over. This made it a little awkward at intersections--I had to open the door and peek out to make sure no one was coming. Fortunately, I didn't see anyone I knew. XD The only decent picture I got on the highway...enthralling, isn't it? (Oh, those glasses are Mom's, by the way. She just leaves them in the van for easy access.)
Yup, so that was my amazing photographic expedition. Whee. We had to clean a house, then I worked at the gym (surprise, eh? XD) so there wasn't any time to get other pictures. Unless I wanted to get random pictures of people at the gym. And I don't think they would have appreciated that. Although there was one moment yesterday when I wish I had had a camera at the gym...let's just say that it involved a surprised expression. I was emptying trash cans (enthralling, I know), and our big can has bags that are a little too small. The solution is simple enough: use some tape and tape it down around the edges as best you can so the bag doesn't end up crumpled in the bottom on the can. So. Enough of that description. The tape I used was this really thick heavy stuff that the wrestlers use for taping together the wrestling mats--it's wider and heaver than duct tape (gasp! Sacrilege!), so you need to cut it with scissors. After I had pulled out a goodly amount of tape I realized that there weren't any scissors. 'No problem,' I thought, 'I'll just use my pocketknife.' (For the uninformed, I carry a small pocketknife for cutting open hay bale strings and stuff.) I was standing next to the can, cutting the tape into more manageble sections, when this guy walks around the corner. Said guy is a really nice, quiet young man named Jon, but I digress. The reason why I wish I'd had a camera was the fact that his expression started out with 'oh, hi' and, upon seeing the knife in my hands, quickly slid into 'er...a knife? Wha?' ...if I wasn't so self-controlled (*cough* HA *cough*) I would have laughed unmercifully. To make a long story short--what, it's too late for that? Oh. Well, to make a long story longer, I just about died laughing when he left. I know--instead of a camera, I wish that I had a camera in my eyes so when I blinked, I could take pictures! Wouldn't that be awesome? On second thought, that could be slightly awkward to take weird pictures of unsuspecting people. But I digress. Leaving you with that thought for the day, Da Fox I didn't take any pictures today! Bad me! *slaps wrist* Ahh, I have no excuse, either. We had a huge ice storm last night and I had the entire morning off, but instead of doing something productive I sat in the house and did practically nothing. Blah. (I personally think that after having the past three days suck the free time out of my life in the form of cleaning houses, school, and work, I'm kind of entitled. But that's just me.) So about this ice storm...first it rained, and then it froze. But it didn't stop raining, so there was a solid glaze of ice over EVERYTHING. It was kinda awesome. The only bad thing was that it's all foggy/rainy/etc, so if I had taken pictures they would have turned out all grey and boring anyway. The best thing is when there's a clear, clear sky and the sun is out to shine off of the ice...it's kinda amazing. :D Think something along the lines of these pictures (I took them a couple of years ago, when the sun actually came out for my camera). See what I mean?? (You wanna know the coolest part? These are straight out of the camera--I didn't touch these with any kind of tweaking. It's enough to make one cry... *sniff*)
Actually, these are 'frost', not 'ice'...but I couldn't find any sunny ice pictures from a few years ago. They got eaten by the computer that died...DANGIT. *kicks random rock* DARN YOU, TECHNOLOGY!!! All right, all right, I'm calming down...yeesh. So, suffice to say, I didn't get any pictures today. I'm still drooling over that Canon camera on Amazon--but it's about $450 outside of my current budget. Sigh. And the last time I saved up money, I had JUST enough and then I had to buy a new computer. I guess I'd better start saving up for the NEXT emergency... *rolls eyes* What else has gone on today...hmm...well, practically nothing, I'm sorry to say. I haven't been drawing hardly at all (although I WAS asked to design a book cover last week! Squee!), I've been eating too much lately, I feel like a squishy blob even though I'm working out every other day...blah. *throws pity party* Feel sorry for me! Or I'll sic the dog on you! Your pathetic hostess, Da Fox No, really, they are. ...what, are you expecting an explanation? Oh. Well, okay. With today being ever so slightly warmer than the previous few weeks, I snatched the opportunity to go and 'clean out the barn'. By that I mean that I took a shovel and a wheelbarrow and started slogging away at the manure pile that currently occupies the barn. I wish I had taken pictures...it was quite a sight. Maybe tomorrow, yes? And now, in lieu of pictures, you'll have to use your imaginations! What fun! Imagine this area of the barn as seen below. Now imagine that Violet, instead of standing on the flat, relatively smooth floor, is instead ankle-deep in steaming horse offal. The stuff is about 6 inches deep all over--level with the bottom horizontal board on that post on the right side of the picture
Before you accuse me of being a neglectful horse owner, remember that it has been freezing for weeks, and most of the stuff is still hard as a rock. But I did manage to haul out approximately 2.5 million loads, or 1/4 of the mess. Fun, yes? ...okay, I'm no good about this 'expounding without a picture' thing. I'll just have to go out and take pictures the next time I get around to mucking out the barn. (Considering my schedule, that'll probably end up happening sometime next year. Ugh.) Until then, consider yourselves fortunate that you don't have to look at manure today...mwahahaha... So that's why my hands were shaking earlier: between lifting steaming shovelfuls of offal and pushing barrows of said offal through snow my arms are shot. Oh, and I have to go do karate tonight. Fun. I'm going to go take a much-needed nap and listen to Isaac rant about politics...yay... Lotsa love, Da Fox Be afraid...be very afraid!! So with the recovery of Photoshop and the downloading of pictures that are several weeks old I have no choice but to fling them out into the abyss of cyberspace. Consider yourselves cursed. XD We start off with the face of evil herself, the Gookster. Doesn't that green glow in her eyes just give you the shivers? (Oh, don't ask why she's in the sink. We honestly don't know.) Next, the face of complacency, other known as Tiger. Ahh, that's better. Tiger is, for lack of a better term, our retarded cat. Use the word 'special' if you prefer that and are politically correct (which, in this household, we are not). He suffered from distemper when he was a kitten and was the only surviver of his litter. The only effects from that scarring time seems to be mental: he's very sloooow and deliberate when it comes to doing ANYTHING, and doors are a menace to be feared. Aw. Doesn't he look serene and noble? (Personally, I think he's thinking 'would you get that camera out of my face, please?' But what do I know about what goes on in a cat's mind?) And now, for some FIRE!!! This would be the inside of our wood stove, one of two sources of heat in the house for the moment. The fire is usually somewhat bigger than that (such as when I ceremoniously burned a copy of Eragon)...I think that I was building it up from a little pile of ashes when I took this. Yee. Next? Why, horses, of course! Here's Colletta, freaking out because I'm going out to feed. I think I covered her feeding phobia in a previous entry...go ahead, check it out if you don't remember. I'm not going anywhere. Memory refreshed? Good. Let's continue. Lone horse in field...such a majestic sight... XD And here she is, coming around for another pass... Okay! Enough horse pictures--on to SNOW!! I love these kinds of pictures, with the green of the pine needles against the white of the snow...mmm...^-^ Okay, time for drifts. This particular pile o' white stuff was about three feet deep. I would have been hip-deep in it, had I tried to go wading--but considering that my boots only come up to mid-shin, I decided against it. Same drift, different angle...you can kinda see a size reference in comparison to the horse trailer. Ahh, the monochromaticism (is that even a word?) of the frozen tundra...it makes me cold just to look at it. *shivers* So cold, in fact, that I'm going to haul out the pottery beer--er, TEA--stein and make myself some tea. Tea makes the world go 'round...believe me. I fill this thing up at least once a day, sometimes twice if I'm a real glutton for flavored hot water. (That's all tea is, really...but I digress.) Oh wait. Wait, wait, wait. I have one last picture to show ya'll--it's Javvie, doing what he does best: being obliviously hilarious. Are you ready? Are you sure? No, seriously, I'm not sure if you're ready. Dig way deep down inside yourself, and-- *is slapped* Okay, okay, I'm going! Sheesh. Here it is. The quickly-Photoshopped monstrosity known as 'Javert with a piece of paper stuck on the end of his nose'. There, are you happy now? (Oh, and by Photoshopped I mean that I quickly painted over the yellow-reflected look in his eyes without much thought for realism. Anyway.)
So that's my picture spamming for today, yay. Tomorrow is going to be a very interesting day--do you remember the tree in our yard that caught on fire last year? Well, we're going to be cutting the thing down...okay, I use the term 'we' very loosely. It'll be Dad, Isaac, Will, and Mike doing the actual cutting...if I'm home when it happens (which I probably won't, seeing as how Mom and I have two houses to clean and then I have to work at the gym in the evening *tear*) I'll be taking pictures of the process. If I'm not, then Will is going to be taking pictures. I have threatened him with bodily harm should he not record this event...so tomorrow will be an update of either more picture spamming, or a faithful recording of Will's physical discomfort. And it had better not be the latter. Listening to: Will playing 'Layla' on the Telly
Mood: Spazzy Not sure what to talk about...so I guess I'll just ramble. Won't that be fun? XD Today was a karate clinic--what? I haven't mentioned my taking karate before? Well, this will have to be remedied. Several years ago my whole family was involved in the Tang Soo Do karate group here in town. After a couple of years in it we quit, mostly due to financial straits. (I'm not sure if I used 'straits' correctly, but if it means 'difficulty' then I did. :D) Years passed. I grew from a pudgy little kid with dorky glasses and a bad haircut into the bizzarity that I am now. And after I started working at the gym, I decided that I'd like to join again. I did so two weeks ago, and this clinic has been a big buildup ever since I donned those white pants and shirt: a master from Chicago had been asked to come down and teach this clinic, so he did. (Pretty anticlimactic, no?) It was a lot of fun, really. From 10 to 12 this morning we stretched, kicked, did one-steps (basic self-defense moves), controlled falling (I sat out of this because I HATE falling in any form whatsoever after getting a concussion from falling off the horse), etc. The master was a good-natured sort with a pretty good sense of humor, which is always good...okay, I'm getting tired of talking karate. Something else is called for. I took a bunch of pictures that are snow-related, but I haven't gotten around to loading them onto the computer, much less editing them and posting them on here. Gah. *headdesk* Oh well. Once I have a few moments to breathe and get my act together, you can consider them posted. [enter randomness] Will has a scar on his forearm. He SAYS it looks like he tried to kill himself. Considering all the times he's fallen off of things and hit his head/back/mouth/whatever, I wouldn't think that he'd need the help, but I digress. (Those are stories for another time.) [/randomness] Okay, I need one more topic to talk about...umm...umm...ummmm...well, Isaac is home, as I'm sure you all know. This means that his truck is home too. Said truck is an F350 that, once he parked it in the driveway, sat for three days refusing to start, and now it does start but not every time. Oh, and tonight when he drove the thing on the backroads (in the dark I might add) the headlights went out. Did I mention that it was foggy too? No? Well, it was. Suffice to say, the next logical step in this whirlwind of insanity was to turn on the emergency flashers and drive home by the light of said flashers. I swear, I'm not making this up. Seriously. And the moral, kiddos, is to do your homework before you buy a vehicle and make sure that it will run at least MOST of the time. 'Kay? 'Kay. I'm glad we had this talk. XD Turns out that I didn't draw near as much as I thought I did over the last few weeks...phooey. Oh well, here's my deposit. They are found in the Artwork and the Doodleart categories, respectively.
Hurrah for warm weather! The snow is melting, I can go outside without freezing my face off...life is good. :D Also, Mike is coming over for dinner tonight. Which also makes life good. My dreams got a little weird this morning (read: everything was going wrong) due to that information, but oh well. We're making Chinese (egg rolls, chicken fried rice and something else with chicken that Mom forgot to tell me), and I was pre-cooking stuff all morning. I hope I cleaned up all the bits of shredded cabbage (for the egg rolls, of course)...hm. I'll be getting home at 6, which is when Mike's supposed to be there, and I won't have time to check for cleanliness...I'll leave that to Mom. *sends prayer that Mom will find them (in all likelihood, she will)* Otherwise, not much is happening...oh wait. I started school yesterday, so my schedule is as follows. Tuesdays and Thursdays: 3 classes, starting at 8 and finishing at 2:50 with 1 1/2 hour break in between the second and last class Phew. Life just got a whole lot more insane. If this warm weather keeps up I'll go out tomorrow after class, feed the horses, and then go about starting to muck out the barn. It hasn't had a shovel touch it for almost two months--the piles are starting to infringe upon the territory inside the workshop. This is not good. This is not good in the least. Already feeling the suctioning pull of manure and the great outdoors, Da Fox Woo hoo! The new computer came in today, and it is gorgeous. A little bigger (it has a 17" screen as well as a numeric keypad) and updated from the last one, which is not bad by ANY means. *pats new compy* I've been updating things and uninstalling some of the crap that's already in it, and I ought to have it up and running completely within a couple of days.
So initially I thought that today was going to end up really horrible. I'm recovering from a pretty bad cold (which had tackled me starting last Thursday, and I missed two days of work which stank), and I was trying to help Mom at the gym but the phone was ringing off the hook and she couldn't tell me specifically what to do in order to help. THEN I remembered that I was supposed to call the college and ask when classes started. Turns out that classes started today, and my original schedule was Monday and Wednesday. So I was sure that I had missed the first day of school, which would have turned out worse than usual because I have the same teacher that I had LAST semester and she didn't like me much. Fortunately it turned out that my schedule was changed to Tuesday and Thursdays, but it seems that one of my classes got canceled and no one at the college ever called me to tell me so. So I was still kind of irritated that the schedule had changed, even though it means that school starts tomorrow instead of today...sigh. But with the arrival of the computer and getting my books from college things started looking up, and I'm going to work tonight and things are getting better. Thus ends this motherload of incoherence and run-on sentences. *rolls eyes* Oh! A Mike update! He hadn't been coming in very much for about three weeks over the holidays, and I was kind of nervous because I was under the impression that maybe I had scared him off (which, of course, goes against everything I've ever seen from him and puts way too much importance on my role in his life which, all things considered, is infinistimal). But he had just been taking advantage of his vacation and things are back to normal. Mom has been doing some digging for me and reported that she's almost positive that he doesn't have a girlfriend, but...I think that I'm gonna keep things cool. That is, quit pursuing. I think that when I try to impress someone it just makes me feel a lot of agony and emotional drama and that is just too much of a hassle. >.< Not to mention it makes me look a bit desperate...I've been reading a book called 'When God Writes Your Love Story' by Eric and Leslie Ludy, and that combined with 'I Kissed Dating Goodbye' has been putting into perspective my motives for pursuing the poor guy. And I figure, if things are going to happen, they will. I'd rather have things happen the way they're supposed to than try to force it and find out later that I had been going about it all wrong. I have quite a few drawings to put up, but I have to get the new computer and the printer on speaking terms before I can get them scanned and whatnot. So be looking for some updates! I'm off to get ready for work! IT'S GREAT TO BE BACK PEOPLES!!! Barely! I have been working for the past three hours on stuff at the gym, and with basketball season starting things have gotten INSANE. Hence, no time online.
I have approximately 25 minutes before the gym closes, so a quick update: I contacted the 'computer doctor' today and he said that the computer is pretty much fried. So...I guess lightening DOES strike twice? *weak laugh* So I'm gong to be on the lookout for a new computer. Will and I have some money from Christmas and working over the past few months tucked away, so maybe with a little extra moolah we can get a nice computer. Oh, and an external hard drive. *crosses fingers* Some things have been drawn since my last update, but I have no time to post them. So maybe next time. I'm going to take a moment to peruse some computers on Amazon, so adieu for now. |
