Mood: Dull
I need to come up with more imaginative journal titles. Let's see where this leads us...
Right, so snow. Yesterday, during our blizzard, I got a few pictures of ye olde white stuff as it came down, and blew past, and sent little slivers of ice into my eyes. But I'm not complaining.
And that's all the snow pictures I have for now...it is far, far, FAR too cold to just pop out and start taking pictures (I think we had a high of 20 degrees today). So on to other things! Like tormenting the dog!
"Oh please oh please oh please throw it! Throw it throw it! I just can't stand it anymore! The suspense!"
Or something like that. XD Javert loves him some squeaky ball. He just has a thing for sqeaky toys in general...which is conduct not exactly becoming of a creature named after the greatest Inspector in history. My point is, 'Javert' should be synonymus (...did I spell that right? *brain fart*) with 'justice' and 'teh Lawr' and staid, strict, stiff-upper-lip carrying of oneself.
Not squeaky toys. Or spastic chasing of squeaky toys.
Anyway. For some reason I am starving...I have been alternately starving or vaguely hungry all day--I have no idea why. Maybe it's the cold or something. *sigh*
Oh! I got a video-pack of Anthony Perkins movies as an early Christmas present (thank you Birikein!!), and I've been having a blast moving my way through them. There are four movies, and in order are:
Friendly Persuasion (1956, with Gary Cooper and Dorothy McGuire)
Desire Under the Elms (1958, with Sophia Loren and Burl Ives)
Catch 22 (...I can't read the print on the back *headdesk*)
Les Miserables (1978, with Richard Jordan)
I saw 'Friendly Persuasion' last night, and while I adore old movies (and it has a cameo appearance by Ma Kettle!! Which is just hilarious!), it was the kind that just...rambles. It's two hours and twelve minutes of looking at the life of a Quaker family during part of the Civil War. And the Civil War doesn't come into it hardly at all, except for the occasional flash of a uniform, until the last quarter of the movie. The rest of it was a bunch of semi-related instances, and with no real change at the end. That is, there's a little character development, but not much.
...why am I looking so deeply into this?? It's a movie, for crying out loud! Oh, and Anthony Perkins could have gone with a lot more screen time. And ol' Gary Cooper isn't too hard on the eyes either! I've never actually seen one of his movies before...that just occured to me. XD
This morning I saw 'Desire under the Elms'. That one was just...ew. Weird. Messed-up. Depressing. Take your pick. Any way you look at it, the whole things was not my cup of tea...a little too--eh, just read the synopsis sometime. You'll see what I mean. And even though Tony Perkins got a lot of screen time, it was when he was going into his 'brooding' stage of films, and whereas I can take a little brooding I want to see the awkward, funny Tony! Smiling is so much easier to handle than dark moodiness!
I haven't seen the other two movies yet, but it's just a matter of time. Will wants to see 'Catch 22', so I'm waiting for the next time we can both see it. And I've seen 'Les Mis' before (no duh) but only on Youtube. And I'm going to LOVE watching my very own copy. *squee*
Oh, and a side note: the whole time I was watching these movies I had a running commentary of sarcasm going through my mind...*twitch* Now I wanna do funny reviews of movies. Sigh.
Ooh! Here is the cutest picture I have seen in a long time--check it out:
