Current Mood: Bleagh
The title is a throwback to when I was obsessed with Lord of the Rings. September 22nd, being Frodo and Bilbo's birthdays, is the 'official' Hobbit Day in the LOTR fandom. So yeah...and it's the first day of fall too. Which is easy to remember.
Speaking of fall, it's really looking like fall around here. The leaves are dropping off of the poplar tree out front, the bean and corn fields that were planted early are starting to turn gold and brown, and that feeling in the air of chill is all too present. Actually, I'm kind of glad because I have a scarf and fingerless gloves that I've been dying to wear, but it's been too warm to do so. (No, I'm not a clotheshorse--I just really love this scarf (made it myself) and the fingerless gloves are cool.) I shall be taking a camera out presently to get some pictures.
What else...oh, I saw the 1978 Les Miserables a couple of days ago. Again. All right, so it's been a year since I've seen it. Overall it's a pretty good movie--Richard Jordan as Valjean does a good job (but he has little skinny chicken legs which is NOT like Valjean at all and therefore I can't take him seriously), the storyline is amazingly Brickish (it has the Great Coffin Escape! *spazz*), and then...there's Anthony Perkins as Javert.
Anthony Perkins as Javert = <3
I usually don't go on about actors like this, but Perkins IS Javert. And he quotes the Brick lines and has the sideburns and is clipped and military-like and is tall and skinny and just PWNS. *squee*
...maybe it should be slightly disturbing that all the actors I like are either dead or over 40. Hmm. A change in subject is in order.
Currently working on an acrylic painting--I found some screencaps as AP in the role of Javert and am trying to translate one to a piece of canvas. The painting is about 60% of the way done, which means that it's nowhere near finished but I'm liking it. Considering that I haven't used acrylics in over a year I think this is good practice--and after each painting session (done two so far on this piece) I'm going to use the left-over paint from mixing and slap down a 'paint sketch'. CorvidAngel on Deviantart does this with some AMAZING results, so I'm using her idea. It's teaching me to be a lot looser (and when it comes to painting/drawing I NEED to be looser).
I was going to put up my senior pics tonight, but when I looked around for them in order to scan I couldn't seem to find 'em. So...they'll just have to wait until tomorrow or so. I imagine that Mom's 'hidden' them somewhere... (i.e. 'put them where they belong in a drawer somewhere and that she forgot to tell me where that drawer is').
Hmm...nothing else going on, really. Okay, I take it back: There's ALWAYS too much going on, but tackling everything is a never-ending task so I'm not going to attempt it tonight.
